Awareness Fundraiser for Domestic Violence Victims
With October being domestic violence awareness month, I wanted to do this fundraiser is to build awareness about the increasing need for more nonprofits to help victims of domestic abuse in Colorado. With 1/3 women and 1/4 men being affected by domestic abuse there is big need in our community to help these victims develop safe and violent free lives. Recently one of the nonprofits in Colorado closed because of the lack of funding. This left a big gap in Adams County to help victims of domestic abuse. Many nonprofits have been working hard to fill this gap, but it’s becoming clear there definitely needs to be more help in this area.
The Fairy Godmother Project, a new nonprofit, is in the process of starting up to help fill this gap in our community. The mission statement for the Fairy Godmother Project is to help people in abusive relationships start a new empowered life. They do this by partnering with other agencies and providing resources to victims so they no longer have to live in fear and they can finally live a life that is filled with hope.
To attend the fundraiser it will be $40 per person. All the proceeds will be going to the Fairy Godmother Project, so we can finally fill this need in our community and survivors and victims of abuse can get the support they deserve.
For this fundraiser I’ll be presenting on how domestic violence affects victims, how to support victims of abuse, and learn how the Fairy Godmother Project will support our community.
Snacks and drinks will be provided.
